White Spots: Oral hygiene is important but so is your beverage consumption!
Permanent white spots occur when our enamel surface experiences prolonged exposure to acid attack. Bacteria in plaque produce acid that softens our enamel and leads to “decalcification” which is the first step of a cavity forming. If your teeth are clean but you’re drinking beverages high in acid (pop, iced tea, energy drinks, Gatorade and fruit juices for example) we can still see these white spots developing. Avoiding these during your treatment will make sure these do not occur.
